Workshops

What is a Photo Workshop?

The best way to learn more about photography is to have a good teacher by your side – and a iPhotography workshop gives you just that.

Our workshops cover a range of photography skills from learning how to fully use your camera, to focusing upon creative compositions as well as how to perfectly edit your photographs.

Workshops are hosted by iPhotography tutors, course instructors and other professional photographers.

Depending upon the event, there may be more than one workshop instructor on hand to help you on the day.

Are Workshops for Me?

Workshops are ideal for photographers who want to take their shots to the next level with focused training in a live environment alongside other photographers in a small group setting.

Even if you’re a passionate beginner looking to progress quickly, or an experienced amateur refreshing their training you’ll benefit from a photography workshop.

Spread out over a full day (6 hours) our photography workshops are carefully designed and structured to make the learning process fun, interactive and most importantly, educational.

Get Personal Training with a Pro

Whilst our workshops are a chance for you to meet other photographers in attendance, your tutor will  set aside 1-2-1 time with you personally. We’ll chat about shots and give you feedback.

It’s a perfect opportunity to ask questions if you’re not into public speaking!

Before you attend a workshop you’ll know what to expect, with clear communication about the day’s plan, where you’ll be meeting and what to bring along.

What Should I Bring Along?

Workshops are more suited for photographers who have got at least an entry-level DSLR or Mirrorless camera. Whatever lens you have will be fine, but if you’ve got a couple of options, pack them all in your back.

It’s events like this you’ll want to make the most of so bring a tripod, extra batteries, memory cards and lens filters if appropriate.

If the workshop includes an on-site photo editing lesson (see each event itinerary) then you’ll need a laptop or tablet with a suitable photo editing app/software installed. Don’t forget any cables or adaptors to transfer your photos to your device too.

Workshop FAQs

If the weather isn’t suitable for the event you will be contacted with adequate notice and the workshop rescheduled. If you aren’t able to attend the rescheduled date you will be fully refunded.

Unless otherwise stated, lunch will be provided at our workshops, bring along some extra snacks and water for when you’re out in the field shooting.

Workshops are designed to have a sole focus of the day’s event. You might be mastering black & white photography or portraits – either way, that will be the entire focus of what you shoot. Workshops are spread out over a full day (sometimes multiple days), this gives you dedicated 1-2-1 time with your tutor to shoot, review and improve as you go.

Photo walks are much more casual and more suited to photographers who just want to get out more with their camera. The event is shorter and doesn’t include dedicated 1-2-1 time or meals.

Given that we are a UK based company the majority of our workshops are in the UK, but we do always consider overseas events to touch base with iPhotography members all over the world. In 2023, we are running a 5 day photography workshop in New York City for example and hope to do more events like this going forward.

No you don’t have to be a member already – but why aren’t you a member already?

It’s really easy to sign up and we’ve even got a free online photography course to get started. When booking on a workshop you will be required to create an iPhotography account for communication purposes.
